Higher Ground Youth Challenge is a Colorado-based, 501c3 non-profit organization working with at-risk youth to give them a chance to do more than dream. Our program incorporates a unique, two-pronged approach of a weeklong, outdoor, experiential camp and an ongoing mentoring program.
The youth we serve are teens, ages 13-16, that come from challenging situations and unfortunate circumstances where their guardians may be single parents, other family members, or may be entirely absent. These teens may be the caregivers for younger siblings, breadwinners for the family, or may be fending for themselves. They face obstacles such as gangs, drugs, and alcohol on a daily basis. With the help of referrals from other outstanding youth organizations, such as Denver Kids, Girls, Inc., Mi Casa, Denver Public Schools, and others, Higher Ground Youth Challenge has reached over 300 youth, so far.
